Wrestling with God’s Timing – Quote Highlight
“Was his timing in all this perfect too? Was he working for her good even though it looked like he was dropping the ball?“
God’s timing is always perfect.
We read stories in the Bible where from man’s point of view, God showed up a little too late. I especially think of the story of Lazarus, how Jesus comes to Bethany, four days after Lazarus was dead. You know they were thinking, “you’re a little late to help now.” In the end, we see that he was right on time and the Son of God was glorified.
In my own life I’ve had situations where I’ve prayed for God to move and nothing seemed to be happening. Was he ignoring my prayers? Is he punishing me? Does God care about me at all?
When we face these times, we must draw hope from Romans 8:28, “For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
God has a purpose and a plan for the trials you are facing. He will work all things out for good, but in His own timing, not yours.
Trust Him.

After a harrowing experience with an obsessed patient, oncology nurse practitioner Leigh Weston needed a change. She thought she’d left her troubles behind when she moved home to Carrington, North Carolina, and took a job in the emergency department of the local hospital. But when someone tampers with her brakes, she fears the past has chased her into the present. She reaches out to her high school friend turned homicide investigator, Ryan Parker, for help.
Ryan finds satisfaction in his career, but his favorite way to use his skills is as a volunteer underwater investigator with the Carrington County Sheriff’s Office dive team. When the body of a wealthy businessman is discovered in Lake Porter, the investigation uncovers a possible serial killer–one with a terrifying connection to Leigh Weston and deadly implications for them all.
Dive into the depths of fear with an exciting new voice in romantic suspense. Award-winning author Lynn H. Blackburn grabs readers by the throat and doesn’t let go until the final heart-pounding page.
My Thoughts:
If you are a fan of Dee Henderson, Dani Pettrey, or Colleen Coble, you are going to love this new book by Lynn H. Blackburn!
I enjoyed this book. With intense scenes and sweet romance, you can solve the case along with the investigators without the foul language or indecent scenes of so many police television shows on the market today. This book was not gory in any way. A warning if medical vocabulary makes you squeamish, the main character is a nurse, and the writer did an excellent job at making sure she evaluated situations the way a nurse would.
The ending is both surprising and satisfying!!
The diving element of the story was only in the beginning.
The characters were all drop-dead gorgeous. It would have been nice to have more ordinary looking characters. The cast is a wide variety of ethnicity, the main character is adopted from China and her brother from Bolivia. They also have fun personalities and deep struggles.
I can’t wait for book two in the series.

For me, the hardest answer to my prayers is “wait.” We’re not patient, we want an immediate answer and sometimes it’s hard to remember that God knows what’s coming. There are no surprises for him.
Thanks for the reminder!
