I’ve joined my blogging friends for a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. My hope and my prayer is that these scriptures each week will bless your heart and encourage your soul.
Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deuteronomy 11:18-19 KJV
Todays post is more of a challenge than simply an encouragement.
I’m sure you’ve heard the question, “what are you teaching your children?” But that’s not what I’m asking you today. I’m asking, “WHEN you are teaching your children?”
That’s right! WHEN!
These verses in Deuteronomy tell us when.
When thou sittest in thine house.
When thou walkest by the way.
When thou liest down.
When thou risest up.
Is God and His Word a part of your everyday life? I’m not talking about going to church services a couple times a week. I’m not even talking about having family devotions, though both of these things are good and important.
But do you talk about God all day long? When you are sitting around your house or at the meal table? When you are out and about running errands around town? When you prepare for bed? When you get up in the morning?
Do you share with your children how He has answered prayers for the family? How He has blessed your family? Do you make Him real to your children? Is He a present and active part of your home on a daily basis?
What scripture is encouraging you today? Share it with us!
