His Encouragement #14-Consider the Lilies

I’ve joined my blogging friends for a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. My hope and my prayer is that these scriptures each week will bless your heart and encourage your soul.

Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Luke 12:27 KJV

I was all set to write about something else today. I cleaned out my Bible bag to find the paper I had written the verse on that I wanted to share with you. When I pulled out all my loose papers, I found the words to a song that we sang at our Wow, Mom’s Bible Study last Saturday, I had never heard the song before Saturday, but I really love the words. I laid the paper down in front of me on my desk and sang it all the way through. All thoughts for the other verse flew out of my head and I just knew this was what I was supposed to share. I hope someone will be blessed by this today.

Consider the Lilies. Jesus is asking us to take a look at a part of His creation and asking us to consider the lesson they can teach us. Easter is coming up this Sunday. You have probably seen Easter Lilies in the stores, you may even have one in your house right now.

They’re beautiful!

But do they toil or labor or work hard to get that way?

No. They just grow. They are not responsible for how much rain or sun they receive. They just grow.

How are you doing? Are you toiling, laboring, working so hard to provide for your family, to be everything you’re supposed to be?

Are you worried? Are you anxious?

Lilies don’t worry. They don’t get anxious. They just grow.

"Consider the lilies, they don't toil nor spin
But there's not a king with more splendor than them
Consider the sparrows, they don't plant nor sow
But they're fed by the Master
Who watches them grow.

We have a heavenly Father above
With eyes full of mercy
And a heart full of love
He really cares when your head is bowed low
Consider the lilies and then you will know.

May I introduce you
To this friend of mine
Who hangs out the stars
And tells the sun when to shine
And kisses the flowers
Each morning with dew
But He's not too busy to care about you!

We have a heavenly Father above
With eyes full of mercy
And a heart full of love
He really cares when your head is bowed low
Consider the lilies and then you will know.
