Death. Drugs. Danger.

When her boyfriend ends up dead, crime blogger, Sofie Marino, wants answers. Nobody’s taking his death seriously. Three additional deaths in three weeks, all related to heroin or fentanyl, can’t be a coincidence. As Sofie seeks the truth, the danger level rises. For some reason, the cartel ringleaders want her dead.

DEA agent, Caleb Daniels, saves Sofie’s life and starts falling for her, but being good at his job might put him at odds with her. On the other hand, if he’s not careful, his personal feelings may jeopardize the case against a powerful drug ring.

Will faith, love, and hope carry them through the dangers, or will evil claim two more victims?

My Thoughts:

This is the second book I’ve read in the Endless Mountain series. In the time since I read book two, the series has had both a cover and title change and I feel both are a wonderful improvement to the series as a whole.

Chasing Sofie focuses on college students, so it has more of a new adult feel than the usual romantic suspense. I felt that the romance moved very quickly and tended to focus more on the physical than any other aspect of the relationship. Also, Sofie’s moment of salvation felt awkward and forced, though I did appreciate Sofie’s attempt to focus on her budding relationship with the Lord and at least stating that she didn’t get saved just to win over the hero.

Sofie is determined to prove her dead boyfriend innocent in the serial killings of several college students. She is reckless and too stubborn for her own good, putting herself and others in jeopardy.

It’s a good suspense story, not too heavy on the intense, but the characters are in enough danger to keep you turning pages. I enjoyed this book and think others will as well. This is a silly thing, but I felt the cover image didn’t match the description of the “Italian” girl inside. Although, I haven’t read Claudia’s book, I enjoyed having her as a part of this story as a mentor and guide.

I highly recommend this book for those who love to read redemption stories and romantic suspense.
