Wondering Wednesday- Will you tell me about your family?

Welcome to Wonderin’ Wednesday, a new series with my blogging friends, thanks to Jessica Baker at A Baker’s Perspective. These will be weekly post for you to learn more about me, the blogger behind Stories By Gina and other bloggers. Each week I will answer a new question about me or my blog.

Today’s Question- Will you tell me about your family?

My husband, Daniel, and I married 13 years ago on January 6, 2007. We’d known each other for a year and a half. My family was missionaries in the Czech Republic, and his church was one of our supporting churches. We met at his church after his pastor’s wife introduced us. We found we had a lot in common. Since I lived overseas, we began emailing each other on a consistent basis. A year later, he came on a missions trip to Czech Republic and while there, we became betrothed. (Basically, we agreed that our relationship was headed for marriage.) A few months later, I returned to America to attend Bible College in Oklahoma. During opening week, he proposed and I accepted. He visited as often as he could, driving three and a half hours from Fort Worth, Texas. Our wedding was held in Maryland, my home state.

Daniel is my best friend, and I wouldn’t trade our life together for anything. We’ve had our ups and downs like any couple, but we know God has richly blessed our marriage. One of the biggest blessings to come from our union is our precious daughter, Lydia.

Lydia is twelve years old and taller than me. She just finished fifth grade and is looking forward to 6th. She loves all things bright and colorful, and is an amazing artist. She loves to draw, and write stories just like me. She’s had some academic struggles over the years, but has persevered through all of it. She enjoys playing board games, reading fantasy books, and playing with her dolls. She is a huge help around the house, learning to help with chores and take responsibility for herself. I’m so proud of the woman she is becoming. She loves the Lord, church, and her Bible. She is a loyal, compassionate friend, and is kind even to those who wrong her. Although I don’t want to see her grow up, I also can’t wait to see how God uses her in the future.

I enjoyed learning more about you, Gina! How interesting about growing up in the Czech Republic. I’d love to know more about that! Can you speak Czech also?

No, I can’t. I learned enough to get by, but since I was an adult when I moved there, I didn’t put a lot of effort into learning the language, knowing that my time there was temporary.
