His Encouragement #26- Passing the Baton

For 2020, I have chosen Isiah 41:10 as my personal verse. This lead into a theme for this year’s “His Encouragement” posts. Each week, I will look at another “fear not” Scripture of the Bible. I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about trusting God and rooting out the fear in our lives.

And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

1 Chronicles 28:20 KJV

In this chapter of First Chronicles, King David is relaying the instructions God had given him about the building of the temple to David’s son, Solomon. It was David’s dream to build God a permanent house of worship, but did not allow David to fulfil this dream. However, God promised that Solomon would be the one to build the temple.

We all have dreams for our children. This is a shared goal among all humanity no matter your skin color or nationality. We all want the very best for our children, for them to be safe, to find love, and to be happy. As Christian parents, we also want to see our children live a life that is pleasing to the Lord, and to do His best will for them.

But how does that happen?

As parents, we must pass down our faith by sharing with our children the ways God has worked in our lives and the things he has taught us. We need to pass on His instructions for living, through God’s Word. A life lived for God is the only way to have true peace and happiness.

But this isn’t just for parents. We can all encourage each other to live a life of faith, resting our lives in the hands of a Holy God who will never fail us or forsake us.
