His Encouragement #39- It Shall Be Well

For 2020, I have chosen Isiah 41:10 as my personal verse. This lead into a theme for this year’s “His Encouragement” posts. Each week, I will look at another “fear not” Scripture of the Bible. I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about trusting God and rooting out the fear in our lives.

And Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.

2 Kings 25:24

Many months ago, during my family’s evening Bible story reading, we came across this story in 2 Kings. The nation of Israel was being conquered by the king of Babylon and the Chaldees, an evil and ungodly nation — the enemies of God.

And yet, God sends his prophet, not to tell the people to fight or to rise against the wicked king. No, instead his message was one of surrender and a promise that all would be well.

Interestingly enough, the king of Israel opted to rebel against the king of Babylon, and even tried to flee in the night. Because of this rebellion, the nation of Israel was destroyed and taken into captivity.

After reading this story, I’ve wondered what would have happened has the king of Israel done what God had commanded. Would things have worked out differently?

Anyway, so how does this relate to us in 2020? I’ve spent months mulling over this Scripture, and I saved it for today. Because no matter who you voted for, you feel like the other candidate is an “evil king.”

So what does God’s word have to say to us about that?

I believe this passage encourages us to realize that no matter what “king” is elected in the next couple of days/weeks, God is still ultimately on the throne of our nation and this world. No matter what happens the principles of Scripture are still the same and have not changed. (And this goes for both sides of this election, because I know each side feels the same way about the other.)

If we live a life pleasing to God, it will be well with us, no matter whom is in office. The commandments of God will not change. No matter the president, God is still the One we should be serving! Live for Him!! When we live for God, it will be well with us! God is in control and that will never change!

What scripture is encouraging you today? Share it with us! Will you praise God along with me?
