His Encouragement #40-Seven Little Words (That mean the world.)

For 2020, I have chosen Isiah 41:10 as my personal verse. This lead into a theme for this year’s “His Encouragement” posts. Each week, I will look at another “fear not” Scripture of the Bible. I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about trusting God and rooting out the fear in our lives.

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

Acts 27:23-24 KJV

I was all set to talk about trusting in the promises of God and how even Paul was afraid, when I looked up the previous verses to establish context and I noticed those seven little words in verses 23. Their potency immediately struck me!! And I realized that those words are the most important in the world.

Who do you belong to and whom do you serve?

If you belong to Jesus. If you’ve accepted him as your Savior, you have no reason to fear. You belong to the God of the universe, and he is going to keep you safe for this life and eternity. He will never let you down. He’s always listening to your needs. He’s given you everything you need for this life and the next. You have an eternity of peace waiting in Heaven for you.

Because if you don’t belong to Jesus. If he is not your Savior, you DO have reason to fear. You don’t belong to the God of the universe. None of his promises apply to you, except for the promise that He will save if you call on Him. You have reason to fear in this life and the next, because the only eternity waiting for you is one of eternal punishment in the lake of fire.

What about serving Him?

If you are saved by the blood of Jesus you should be serving Him with your life. There are rewards and crowns waiting in Heaven for those who’ve used their gifts to bring honor and glory to His name. You will hear the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

If you are living for yourself and serving yourself, again, you DO have reason to fear. You will not hear the words, “Well done.” Instead, you will have disappointed the one who loved you and gave His life for you. You won’t receive the rewards He has waiting for you.

So, I leave you with two questions today…

Who do you belong to? And whom are you serving?

What scripture is encouraging you today? Share it with us! Will you praise God along with me?
