His Encouragement #5- A Troubled Path

I’ve joined my blogging friends for a new facet of my blog, called His Encouragement, inspiring scriptures shared each Thursday. My hope and my prayer is that these scriptures each week will bless your heart and encourage your soul.

I’m very excited to share my personal verse for 2021 and begin a new journey together through the Word of God.

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Psalm 16:11 KJV

This leads into a theme for this year’s His Encouragement posts. Each week, I will look at another “path” found in the Bible. We will also look at verses with the word “lead.” I hope that as we journey together through these verses that we all will learn a little more about God and the paths he has for us to take in our lives.

Today’s verse is Psalm 142:3, “When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.”

Psalm 42 is a cry to help in trouble. David wrote it when he was hiding in the cave. He was exhausted from running. His spirit was overwhelmed. He had no strength, and all he could see was trouble. So, he called on the Lord and poured out his complaint before Him. He looked around and felt so alone.

It’s easy to believe God is leading us when things are going smoothly, but what about when our path is strewn with troubles, trials, snares, and bumps in the road? Does God still know? Does He still care? Is He still in control?

Absolutely. God hasn’t abandoned you just because things have become difficult. He is not a fair-weather friend! He still knows what’s happening, and He’s still walking right there beside you, if you will allow Him to.

When things are going well, we forget how much we really need Him. It’s only during times of struggle that we are reminded our weak we are. Call on Him as David did. Remember that He is our refuge and our fortress. He knows what you are going through, and He still is ready and willing to give you strength to make it through.

What scripture is encouraging you today? Share it with us!
