About the Book

Title: The Glass Road

Author: Alyssa Schwarz

Series: Prescott Family Romance #3

The road ahead is full of bends and turns…

Austin Wright had bigger dreams than to inherit his grandfather’s old property, but with the help of his nephew and a few volunteers, he decides to reopen the idyllic summer camp of his youth.

Following her accident at the first triathlon of the season, Tess Prescott’s dreams of the Olympics are shattered, and when her brother volunteers her to work at his friend’s summer camp, she is anything but pleased. Determined to make the best of a bad situation, and to keep herself busy while she recovers, she reluctantly agrees, and ultimately learns the joy of being part of a team.

In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, two people must learn to work together if they have any chance of making it through this season of change—even if it means sacrificing the dreams they once strove so hard to protect.

But one unexpected secret could have the power to unravel it all.

My Review

How fragile life can be. That’s what Tess discovers when at the top of her game, she damages her ankle, which requires three surgeries and ends her career as a professional athlete, at least until she heals. Austin wants to restore the summer camp of his childhood to its former glory, but that turns out to be harder than expected, especially when his special activities coordinator drops out. Forced to hire Tess, sight unseen, he’s not sure how this camp season is going to go.

But for Tess and Austin, this will be a summer they never forget.

The Glass Road is a sweet romance with plenty of life lessons and faith in God’s plan. I enjoyed the setting of Colorado and the camp atmosphere. It was unique and the perfect place for Austin and Tess to test their mettle. Especially when the past comes knocking at their door, upending their plans.

My only negative comment is that there were several characters with similar sounding names, which left me a little confused at times. Otherwise, I highly recommend The Glass Road for lovers of Christian romance. The Glass Road continues the saga of a group of cousins who find love and their purpose in life.

This story is full of love, laughter, quirky characters, challenges, and dreams come true. It reads like a Hallmark movie—easy to follow and heart-touching. During the unexpected twist at the end, I felt tears, as my heart ached for a child whose life gets turned upside down.

One lesson these characters learn is that it’s important to live the life God wants for you, and not put your life on hold for the sake of others. People are going to make poor decisions, and they may affect us, but we have to move forward in the path that God has for ourselves. As much as we want to, we can’t always protect those we love from the consequences of their decisions, and neither should we try to.

For readers of sweet Christian romance, I encourage you to add The Glass Road to your TBR. This book stands alone; you do not have to have read the others to enjoy or follow the story, but I highly recommend The Glass Cottage as well.
