Created with Christian Fiction Reader-Fans in mind: the 2023 ACFW Storyfest! Come be part of ACFW Storyfest (formerly the Christian Fiction Readers Retreat). It all takes place Thursday afternoon, August 24, 2023 – Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency at the Arch in St. Louis, Missouri.

The cup-filling role of readers By Sara Brunsvold

One of the best perks of being an author is meeting readers and getting to know them. Any time I have an opportunity to interact with readers, I know I will come away with a filled cup.

Filled with broader perspective. A reader often sees something I have written from an angle I hadn’t considered. This, in turn, often creates lush ground from which to harvest ideas for new stories. Readers’ insights can inspire a character, plot,, or premise.

Filled with book recommendations. I love swapping book recommendations with readers. I’ve lost count of how many times a reader has introduced me to a book or author. Book talk is the best kind of talk.

Filled with renewed purpose. Readers “get” how odd little strokes of ink on the page can carry depth of meaning. Those strokes can sway hearts, change perspectives, uplift, entertain and be a soft place to land in a hard season. Readers believe those strokes are worth the cost required, and that faith feeds my writing ministry in ways nothing else can.

I pray that in every interaction I have with readers, I too am offering the words and sense of community that they deliver to me. Because they deserve it! I’m counting the days to Storyfest 2023.
